The First Nations Tax Commission (FNTC) is a long-established, national First Nations led institution that supports and assists First Nations across Canada in the development and implementation of tax systems on their lands. OUR OPPORTUNITY

The Data Engineer, reporting directly to the Manager of Information and Technology, plays an important role in the data and statistics function of the FNTC.  This position is responsible for leading all aspects of the operation and maintenance of the data and statistics function, including working with staff to support the development of processes for the ingest and consumption of data within the First Nations Tax Commission (FNTC).

The role involves collaborating with staff and contractors to develop processes for data ingestion and consumption, as well as designing technical systems that support data and statistics. Additionally, it includes managing multiple cloud infrastructure components, configuring system connections, developing and maintaining data validation processes, ensuring compliance with data standards, and developing tools like apps and dashboards for staff access to the data system.

WHO YOU ARE

The successful candidate will possess a degree in Data Sciences, Computer Sciences, or a related field, along with at least five years of relevant experience managing data and statistics programs. Additional training or certification in Microsoft Azure learning paths for Data Engineering or Data Management, as well as other certifications in data management, Microsoft Power BI, data engineering, or data analytics, are considered assets. Furthermore, training or certifications in data protection and security will also enhance a candidate’s qualifications.

WHAT WE OFFER

The salary for the Data Engineer position is commensurate with experience and education within a salary range of $80,000 – $95,000.
